La La Anthony Gets Involved in NPF’s Picture Positivity for Psoriasis
La La Anthony is TV personality, fashion designer, New York Times best-selling author and mom who recently partnered with the National Psoriasis Foundation on their Picture Positivity campaign.
Picture Positivity encourages people living with psoriasis to share inspiring images of their lives with the disease. La La got involved in the campaign as another way to embrace her psoriasis and not let it get the best of her.
I recently had the pleasure of interviewing her on her involvement with the campaign, being a mom and why it’s important to embrace having psoriasis and learn about the disease. Being a first time mom to be, I was curious to ask her the best advice she could give a new mom.
“Seek out resources like the National Psoriasis Foundation Partnering with NPF has been such a positive experience for me because of everything I’ve continued to learn about,” Anthony said. “That’s one of the best things I would say when you’re pregnant because NPF has so many great resources. Also, you should do a lot of research on different holistic medications. There’s options out there for pregnant moms.”
I know when I was first diagnosed, NPF’s different resources helped me in so many ways. Take some time to check out Talk Psoriasis, One-to-One Mentor program, get involved in a More Than Skin Deep Event, and like the National Psoriasis Foundation on Facebook.
One of the many characteristics of having psoriasis are the inevitable flare ups. Being an actress and TV personality, Anthony has had some clever ways of doing her job while still managing her flare ups.
“Buns! I like to wrap my hair in a bun or throw it into a sleek pony tail,” Anthony said. “It makes me feel more comfortable in front of the camera. I’ll also wear tops with long sleeves if I’m having a flare up on my arms. Having it for 10 plus years you find little ways like that to cope with psoriasis and still live a happy life.”
Finding that balance for a happy and healthy life is always a hard goal when living with psoriasis. In “The Power Playbook” Anthony helps readers take control of their lives and strive for a satisfied and balanced life. She also spoke to me on how people with psoriasis can live a balanced life – yes it’s possible!
“You have to strive for balance. Take control of your life by first taking control of your psoriasis,” said Anthony. “That’s been the biggest thing for me. And learn as much as you can about the disease. Knowledge gives you power. Power can give you a balanced life. I also love the opportunity I get by working with NPF to reach as many people as I can. That’s what my involvement in Picture Positivity is all about. I want to inspire others with psoriasis that it is possible to live a happy, healthy and balanced life.”
She also encourages all of us to upload your own photo to Picture Positivity and show how you’re not letting psoriasis affect the way you live.
