With one more month of Summer left, I’m still on the lookout for kids summer activities to keep my little ones busy! From water parks to museums, I have rounded up the top kids summer activities in Denver to make the most of the rest of this summer with your family! Most of these are local to Denver, but you can make it local to your area by searching YOUR LOCATION Zoo, or YOUR LOCATION, water parks! Check out the links below to make memories and a day you won’t forget! Please note, I will continue to update this post with the ones we visit in the future!
Water and Amusement Parks
Who doesn’t love a day of fun, rides and pure amusement for both you and the kids! Below are a few options for parks with rides, water and more.
Bay Aquatic Park
Bay Aquatic Park is Broomfield’s newest water park and is a blast for the whole family! Please note, you do have to be a resident of the Broomfield area and have a recreation pass! Which we have and is totally worth it! Designed for children ages 1-13, there’s something for everyone! They have slides you can ride by yourself and ones to ride with tubes that you can just grab on your way up (no need to bring your own!). I love that the area for the smaller kids is in its own space away from the bigger kids, so you don’t have to worry about the big kids running over the little ones (one of my biggest pet peeves!). They also have a food stand and sell everything from pizza, hot dogs and nachos to snacks and sweet treats!
Elitch Gardens Theme and Water Park is in the center of Denver. This water park is Colorado’s only world class combination theme and water park open May-October. It includes amazing water slides, hot rides, 15 KiddieLand attractions and Dive-In movies. Day tickets are only $20!
Location: located at 2000 Elitch Circle, Denver, CO 80204
Water World is located a little way outside of Denver and is considered “America’s largest water amusement park”. Don’t forget to pack water, snacks and lots of sunscreen! The Park includes over 50 attractions and slides for all ages! Tickets are $23 for the day.
Location: at 8801 PECOS STREET, FEDERAL HEIGHTS, CO 80260.

Lakeside Amusement Park includes rides, scenic trains and for the parents (free parking!) which is always a plus. It is the perfect location for a family or group outing.
Location: located at 4601 Sheridan Blvd., Denver, CO 80212.
The Denver Zoo is a leader in connecting people to the awe and importance of wild animals. It’s a great idea for animal lovers, curious kids and exploring new species all day long. Tickets for children 3-11 are $14 and ages 12-64 is $20. What a fun, affordable and exciting activity for a full day of fun!

Next, we have the Children’s Museum of Denver, where you can do it all. This destination is for the kids ready to take on the day. From navigating through a 3-story climber, sculpting a clay masterpiece, powering a hot air balloon or stepping inside a 6-foot bubble there are new things to explore all day at this location! The exhibits also encourage kid powered-learning for young minds to discover and express their knowledge! Ages 2-59 is only $12 for a day pass!
Location: 212 Children’s Museum Drive Denver, CO 80211
Parks and Beaches
The option to head to a sunny park and bring a picnic with games is one you can never pass up! One of the best parks in Denver for kids is Paco Sánchez Park. They have smaller playgrounds for younger children as well as a tower for the older kids, being the best park for multiple ages. It is said that this park is the best for your daring, adventurous kids! The equipment is colorful and has a very inviting atmosphere.
Location: 1290 Knox Ct, Denver, CO 80204

Union Reservoir located in Longmont, CO is such a great summer time escape for families! It is a reservoir so it is not the beach-like sand, it’s the rock sand, but the kids still had a blast building sand castles and swimming in the water. You can even rent paddle boards and kayaks and paddle or kayak in the open water there. There is also a playground there where you can even sit on on the beach and watch your kids play on the playground, when they want to take a break from the beach. There is a $10 fee/per vehicle to enter!
Location: 461 County Rd 26, Longmont, Co, 80504
A few more parks to add to your list: Arapahoe Park, Swansea Park, Writers Vista Park, Garland Park.
